Community Games Hurling:
Following on from their successful campaign against Kilcormac/Killoughey and Shinrone/Coolderry in the semi-final. Eglish/Drumcullen Community Games took on Clara in the U11 Community Games final in Rath on Wednesday last. From the throw-in the sides were evenly matched and it took 7 minutes for the first score to be registered, this was scored by the inform James Hennessy who scored a point from play which was followed shortly by one from Màirtìn Og Ryan. James again got on a perfectly delivered ball to score the first goal. However Clara came back into the game with a goal to shorten the gap to just two points. To finish the half James Hennessy scored another point to leave it Eglish/Drumcullen 1;03 Clara 1;00. After the break it was Clara who scored first with a point from play, but goals from James and Màirtìn Og and a well taken free by Peadar Ryan from mid-field increased the lead by 9 points. Two further Clara points from frees wasn’t enough, as Màirtìn Og dominated midfield and scored two further goals from long range efforts. The final score was scored by Jack Molloy who pointed from an impossible angle to leave the final score Eglish/Drumcullen 5;05 to Clara 1;03.
